    This year’s London Design Festival sees an impressive offering of the most exciting Finnish design and craftsmanship along with a serving of Nordic foraging.

    Klaus Haapaniemi and Co is launching its latest collection titled ‘Nocturnal Bloom’ with two events. Installation set in the Finnish ambassador’s residence 18-19 September in Kensington Palace Gardens presents a collaboration between the brand and Nikari, Finnish sustainable wood furniture company. Klaus Haapaniemi has produced a special edition of sofas covered in the Nocturnal Bloom fabrics carved and treated with different wood finishes. The brand has also produced a collection of brass and walnut lights in collaboration with Finnish architect Taneli Mansikkamäki and a set of Japanese hand-painted ceramic plates.

    The other installation at the Klaus Haapaniemi store in Shoreditch 13-21 September launches a selection of pajamas and kimonos for both women and men. The luxurious silk garments come in four different styles and in four different Nocturnal Bloom prints. The installation is produced together with Nikari and displays Nikari’s collection with international top designers including Jasper Morrison and Alfredo Häberli. Special late night event 16 September invites shoppers to visit the store until 9pm as part of the Shoreditch Design Triangle.

    "The collection started from the Nocturnal Bloom textiles. They were inspired by a night-garden and dark seductive flowers that only bloom at night", says Mia Wallenius, designer and the other founder of Klaus Haapaniemi and Co.

    The Finnish top chef and restaurateur Antto Melasniemi (Atelje Finne, Kuurna, HELYES!) has been invited by design company Wrong for Hay to hold five ‘Design and Dine’ events combining Nordic foraging and London urbanism. The events are a part of creative collaborations with the aim of interpreting and reacting to exhibition space, organised by the Danish design company HAY together with London-based designer Sebastian Wrong. More Nordic delicacies such as cinnamon buns and salmon sandwiches can be savoured at a daytime café, organised alongside the exhibition that will also showcase new Wrong for Hay products.
