    The How We Prepare for a Future of Big Data? event was held at the Finnish Ambassador’s Residence in London on 30 October, and was attended by a panel of Big Data Experts as well as an enthusiastic crowd. The event celebrated the recipient of this year’s Millennium Prize, Professor Stuart Parkin.

    In addition to Professor Parkin, the panel consisted of the President and CEO of Technology Academy Finland Dr Juha Ylä-Jääski, the CEO and cofounder of Big Data specialists Mastodon C Francine Bennett, Global CEO of Social DNA business Starcount and developer of Tesco’s Clubcard Edwina Dunn, and StJohn Deakins, founder and CEO of citizenme.

    The discussion on Big Data covered the technical aspects of storing and processing Big Data as well as the issues around interpreting it and applying it to practical use. Despite the challenges the panel perceived a generally bright future for Big Data, envisioning new technological approaches and fields that could benefit from it.
