The Finnish Institute in London is looking for visual arts, museum and archive professionals to participate in MOBIUS, fellowship programme that enables mobility and collaborative practices and supports long-lasting professional relationships between the UK, Republic of Ireland and Finland. We will choose 4-6 fellows to take part in the programme by working as part of a host organisation’s staff for 2-3 months during 2016.
The call opens on 18 August and runs until 12 October 2015.
WHAT?
MOBIUS is a three-year programme organised by the Finnish Institute in London and the Finnish Cultural Institute in New York. It started at the end of 2013 and the first fellows were chosen in the Spring 2014.
MOBIUS enables opening up of cultural data, meaningful networking and sharing knowledge and field specific expertise. The programme offers culture sector professionals a unique opportunity to gain valuable international experience through a multi-institutional model of peer-to-peer learning.
Through the MOBIUS programme participants can test different ideas and practices in an international context. MOBIUS has already created networks and knowledge that are beneficial to the culture sector in Finland, the UK, Ireland and the US and will continue doing so in the future.
MOBIUS is generously supported by the Kone Foundation, the Finnish Ministry of Education and Culture and by the Swedish Cultural Foundation in Finland.
HOW?
The participants are chosen in London by a steering group consisting of members from The Finnish Institute in London, The National Archives of Finland, Finnish Museums Association, Archives and Records Association UK, Museums Association UK , the British Council and Chester Beatty Library, Ireland.
The steering group will propose each fellow a hosting organisation, which responds to the fellow’s interests in the best possible way.
The Finnish Institute in London manages and coordinates the fellowship periods and covers the travel costs to the working destination and the accommodation during the fellowship. The sending organisation will pay for the salary for its staff member who will be sent to work overseas whereas the hosting organisation is committed to provide professional guidance and support for the duration of the fellowship period.
If a fellow is a freelancer the Finnish Institute will also cover some of his/her living costs during the fellowship period.
