    The Finnish Institute in London in collaboration with the Victoria and Albert Museum announce an open call for a Ceramic Residency at the V&A’s purpose-built ceramic studio space.

    The V&A is inviting applications from Finnish ceramic artists who wish to develop their practice in new ways by working with the V&A’s collections and developing public engagement activities.

    “Finland has a very strong ceramic contemporary art scene. We are delighted to be collaborating with the Finnish Institute in London to have our first Finnish artist in residence at the V&A” says Alun Graves, Senior Curator of Ceramics and Glass at the V&A.

    Since 2008, the Residency programme at the V&A allows practitioners special access to the Museum’s collections, resources and curatorial expertise with the aim of inspiring and supporting them in the production of new work. , Past residents have gone on to achieve significant success in their professional careers, securing gallery representation and winning awards.

    The residency will be based in a purpose-built studio in the V&A’s Ceramics Galleries. It will take place over a six-month period from 4 April to 30 September 2016 and is open to Finnish ceramic practitioners. The selected resident will receive a bursary as well as a travel and accommodation budget.

    Deadline for applications is at midnight, Thursday 3 December 2015 and the interview date is on 16 December between 10 am and 5 pm London time (via Skype).
