VIDEO: Interview with artist Sara Bjarland
Finnish artist Sara Bjarland was our artist-in-residence at the Temple Bar Gallery and Studios in Dublin 1.7-14.8.2016. We met and spoke with her about her work, her practice, Finnish art scene and the residency.
Sara Bjarland (born 1981, Helsinki) is a Finnish artist living in Amsterdam. She uses different artistic mediums such as photography, video and installations to explore the grey area between the natural and the artificial, between objects and organisms.
During the residency at Temple Bar Gallery and Studios, Sara used discarded objects found in the urban environment of Dublin as the starting point for a new kind of sculptural work.
The Institute’s residency programme is organised in collaboration with HIAP - The Helsinki International Artist Programme.
