Visibility and Impact of Contemporary Art in Contemporary Society is a series of public talks hosted by the Finnish Institute in London in 2015. It forms a part of the Institutes Talk Art / Talk Society, a series of moderated interdisciplinary discussions bringing together Finnish and British experts to cover topics ranging from art and design to open data and digital humanities.
The central idea of this special series is to reveal the influences and institutional structures that help or prevent the visibility and impact of contemporary art in Finland and Great Britain, exploring the similarities and differences between these countries and cultures and analysing the art field and different organizations in it. The five talks deal with various fields, such as art and art criticism, the artist’s goals in society, art promoting and internationality, the changing role of galleries and museums and the measuring of the effects of art. Visibility and Impact of Contemporary Art in Contemporary Society is planned and curated by Johanna Vakkari.
