Jaakko Nousiainen, D.A, starts as the Head of the Art & Culture Programme at the Finnish Institute in London from January 2017 onwards.
“Multimedia culture expert Jaakko Nousiainen has a strong understanding of digital media and digital design embracing new technologies. Our Arts and Culure programme focuses on contemporary art, circus, design- also digital design. With Jaakko on our dynamic team we can realise even more ambitious projects that utilise the newest technological innovations, ” says Director of the Finnish Institute in London, Pauliina Ståhlberg.
Jaakko Nousiainen has a varied background working in several different areas of the arts and culture sector. He has worked as a project manager and a producer, studied digitalisation of the performing arts, directed and scripted new opera for smart phones and tablets. His productions have been shown in Helsinki, London, Berlin and Tokyo. Nousiainen is a digital and new media expert, and he has worked as the Head of New Media Development for Cultural and Factual programmes at YLE, the Finnish Broadcasting Company. He has a special interest in combining art and new technologies.
Nousiainen is a Doctor of Arts (University of Lapland) and holds a MA in film from University of Art and Design, Helsinki. Prior to moving to London, Nousiainen lived in Germany and Japan.

The voices of artists and designers, who digest and articulate the turbulent times we are going through, need to be made heard even louder than before.
