How to make a protest - PROTEST FACTORY will teach you
The Finnish Institute in London is excited to launch PROTEST FACTORY, an artist and activist event organised in collaboration with Finnish Artists’ Association MUU Saturday 29 April in Hackney Wick.
PROTEST FACTORY wants to raise awareness of personal, architectural, environmental, political and philosophical spaces through art, social activism and dialogue. It provokes questions with artists, local activists and the public, especially in the context of the area of Hackney Wick and its future.
The programme consists of a DIY social activism workshop, Protest Panel, talks, open mic sessions, and the world premiere screening of an international performance art video collection, Performance Voyage 7, on the theme of ‘Protest Song Competition’ curated by the Finnish Artists’ Association MUU and supported by Helsinki City Cultural Office. In Performance Voyage 7 artists from around the world come together to voice their concerns and personal protests.
The world premiere of Performance Voyage 7 at PROTEST FACTORY will be followed by the Irish premiere at the Temple Bar Gallery+Studios in Dublin on 3 May. After these premiere events, Performance Voyage 7 will go on a world tour of 15 locations in Scandinavia, Continental Europe and North America.
PROTEST FACTORY is supported by Save Hackney Wick, Stour Space and Live Art Developing Agency (LADA).
