STAFF

The Finnish Institute has a staff of four and our work is supported by a flow of highly motivated interns.

Pauliina Ståhlberg
Director

Pauliina joined the EUNIC London presidency team in 2017. She has a long career in media, ranging from working in feature films to the Finnish Broadcasting Company YLE. She has worked as a journalist, director and producer, most recently on a current affairs talk show. Prior to YLE she worked as the Head of Sponsorship and Communications at the Finnish National Gallery Ateneum. Pauliina has a keen interest in freedom of speech and women´s rights and has trained female journalists in Afghanistan. Pauliina has studied humanities at the University of Helsinki, University of Glasgow and the University of Strathclyde and is currently writing her second Master's Degree for Central Saint Martin's School of Art. As an active mother of four, she spends her free time scuba diving, enjoying contemporary art, and practicing karate, in which she has a black belt.

Jaakko Nousiainen
Head of the Art & Culture Programme

Jaakko has a multidisciplinary background in several different areas of the arts and culture sector. He has worked as a project manager and a producer, studied digitalisation of the performing arts, directed and scripted new opera for smart phones and tablets. His stage productions have been shown in Helsinki, London, Berlin and Tokyo. Nousiainen is a digital and new media expert, and he has a special interest in combining art and new technologies. He holds a Doctor of Arts degree in media art from the University of Lapland in Rovaniemi. In his free time he obsesses about his vinyl collection and Japanese culture.

Anita Rockman
Administration

Anita has worked as an administrator for corporations such as Paget Reseach Limited and Neste UK Ltd. She has lived in London since the early 80's and joined The Institute 1996. Anita's role at the Institute includes office administration, human resources and finance. Anita also oversees any productions involving the reinvention of physical spaces - such as turning a derelict warehouse into the HEL YES! restaurant. Anita enjoys a quiet cup of tea, gardening and rescuing and refurbishing vintage furniture. She is the person who keeps the Institute running when everything else falls apart.

INTERNS

The Institute offers several internship placements each year. These internships are within the four operational departments at the institute: Art & Culture, Society, Media and Administration.

Media and Arts

Sara Forsius studies Media Culture at Arcada University of Applied Sciences. Besides going to museums and getting lost in London, Sara enjoys painting, photographing and filming.

Arts and Culture

Leena Vaskin is a Master's student in Art History at the University of Helsinki. She has studied Czech art and culture at Charles University in Prague in the Czech Republic and has a substantial education in creative writing. In her free time Leena enjoys blues dancing, jazz music, long walks and baking.

Society and Culture

Jenni Viitala has graduated as a Master of Social Sciences from the University of Tampere. Jenni enjoys writing, reading and exploring new places in London and around the world. Jenni has a dry sense of humour and she really wants a cat.

Media and Communications

Iida Lindfors is a 23-year-old BBA-student, who enjoys planning and creating. Exploring the world is her passion, and she loves all things beautiful. Moving to London had been at the top of her bucket list for years, so she is beyond grateful for this opportunity. As the new Media and Communications intern, she hopes to learn a lot, while also contributing to a worthwhile cause. Before moving to London, she worked in Turku yet couldn't fight the urge to travel a bit more before graduating.

Administration

Kati Raukola studies Finance Administration in Haaga-Helia University of Applied Sciences. On her spare time Kati enjoyes reading, gym and long walks around beautiful London.
