The Architecture Foundation will host a public lecture on 24 January in London with young emerging Finnish architectural practices ALA, Avanto and Anttinen Oiva.
The public lecture is part of the New Architects: Finland_UK exchange programme. The Finnish architects will present their work in an evening of discussion with their UK counterparts Archipelago, Pie Architecture and Studio Polpo, who will visit Finland in February 2012. Kieran Long, Architecture critic at the Evening Standard, will be chairing the evening. During their visit to London, the Finnish architects will take part in a number of studio and site visits, lectures and networking events.
The aim of the exchange programme is to identify, exchange and promote the best new architects and practitioners from both countries through developing networks, dialogue and cultural exchange that allow for the sharing of new ideas and new practices. The theme of the exchange is Cities and Water.
The New Architects: FinlandUK exchange programme follows on from the successful Architecture Foundation exchanges in Italy, Turkey, Norway, Poland and Portugal. The Finnish Institute in London and the Museum of Finnish Architecture are partners of the FinlandUK exchange programme.
