The Finnish Institute in London has been actively initiating and supporting artist residency projects in the United Kingdom and Ireland together with Finnish art export organisations and information centres since 2002.
In 2009-2011, the Finnish Institute in London continues to develop its residency programme further by expanding its network of partners, developing evaluation tools for residency projects, and establishing new collaborations. Please note that the Finnish Institute cannot accept any applications. Application details and selection processes vary for each recidency as all recidencies are produced in collaboration with a British or Irish host organisation.
RECIDENCIES 2011
Helsinki based independent curator and artist Jon Irigoyen has been selected to take up a curator residency at Temple Bar Gallery Studios in Dublin in September 2011. Artist Alan Phelan from Dublin has been selected as the Irish participant to take up a 3-month residency in Helsinki.
NEW FINNISH ANIMATION IN DUBLIN
In July 2010, Finnish curator Laura Köönikkä spent one month as a studio resident at Temple Bar Gallery and Studios, as part of an exchange between TBG and HIAP (Helsinki International Artist-in-residence Programme). Arising from her stay, she conceived New Black'n'White - an exhibition showcasing new Finnish Animation art video.JANI RUSCICA'S TRAVELOGUE PREMIERED AT CAMDEN ARTS CENTRE
Jani Ruscica's unique animation Travelogue premiered at Camden Arts Centre on 31 March 2010. Ruscica worked on the film during his two-month residency at Camden Arts Centre from October to December 2009. The residency was part of Camden Arts Centre's Magic Lantern animation residency programme and was funded by the Finnish Institute in London and FRAME.

ARTIST-IN-RESIDENCE SURVEY 2009
The Finnish Institute in London has been actively developing artist residency projects in the United Kingdom and Ireland since 2002, together with Finnish art export organisations and information centres.
In 2009, the Institute conducted a comprehensive survey about its past residency activities (2002-2008), regarding the effects of residencies on the artists' work and career development. The aims of the survey were to summarise the experiences the artists have had during their residencies, to show the significance of artist residencies in internationalisation of art and art export, and to use the results to develop the Institute's residency programme further.
