London Seminar For Publishers 12.-13.11.2009

In November, the Finnish Institute is hosting a two-day seminar for Finnish publishers. The event acts both as a platform for sharing information and ideas while offering networking opportunities.

The seminar will see British publishers meeting their Finnish colleagues, thus providing a window to the place of translated literature on the challenging and highly competitive UK literary market. Confirmed British guest speakers include Christopher MacLehose (Quercus), François von Hurter (Bitter Lemon Press), Tasja Dorkofikis (Portobello Books), Antonia Owen (Peter Owen Publishers), Naomi Foyle (Waterloo Press ja Sylvie Zannier-Betts (scout).

The seminar is part of the Institute's Story Spaces literature project that aims to raise the level of Finnish involvement in the British literary market. The Institute's goal is also to contribute to the growing momentum around Finnish translated literature, which will reach an important milestone in 2014 when Finland will be the Guest of Honour at the Frankfurt Book Fair.
