Winner of the Fiction Translation Competition Selected

Arttu Ahava has been selected as the winner of the fiction translation competition initiated by the Finnish Institute in London and the Finnish Literature Export organisation (FILI). The second place in the competition was shared by Ilona Fogel and Iiris Pursiainen.

The translation competition, where participants translated Maritta Lintunen's short story Piinaviikko, attracted 116 entries from Finland and Britain. The competition is a part of the Institute's literature export programme.

FILI invites the overall winner to participate in a translation masterclass in Helsinki. Book prizes were drawn amongst the rest of the participants and the winning ten contestants have been informed personally. The participant's details have been passed on to Finnish publishers.

Many thanks to all of the participants for their outstanding effort!
