Page 1 is the first of a series of exhibition projects with the aim to promote cultural cooperation among Finnish and British contemporary artists living in London.

Page 1 will show past and recent works by artist Anssi Sojakka together with British artists Paul Robinson and Graham Carrick. Their works deal with critical issues relating to the everyday, environment and evolution. Even though the three artists' approach to painting is radically different in technique and colour, what they do have in common is an unusual sensibility to capture the emotions of everyday life.

The subject matter of Sojakka's work is often moody, fragile and even melancholic. Although the starting point for most of his work comes from the immediate surroundings, this information gets distorted into a new reality through various layered processes. A familiar space in Sojakka's paintings often transforms into something recognisable yet foreign. The paintings are like memories that have been corrupted and have now mutated into something new.

Sojakka, Robinson and Carrick started their artistic collaboration while sharing a studio in North London, where they have further developed their artistic research.
