ICE HOT Nordic Dance Platform treated hundreds of international guests to a busy bill of contemporary Nordic dance in December 2012.
ICE HOT - Nordic Dance Platform offered a diverse programme of today's most fascinating contemporary dance from five Nordic countries. Around 300 dance field professionals from over 40 countries came to follow the programme of 21 dance performances presented in seven different venues.
The goal of ICE HOT is to make Nordic dance more known around the world but also to offer a forum on which international dance field professionals can network and develop cooperation. Participants included directors of dance festivals and venues, programme managers, dance critics and journalists as well as representatives of dance companies from all over the world.
"In the first evening's triple bill programme Finnish artists Tero Saarinen Company, Susanna Leinonen Company and Karttunen Kollektiv showed extracts from work that was sophisticated, stylishly presented and beautifully danced. There seemed to be a general sense that we'd seen lots of good things – intelligence, ideas, humour, nice delivery and the schedule had been well organized, describes one of the participants, director of the Dublin Dance Festival," Julia Carrurthes.
This year's ICE HOT was organised by Dance Info Finland. The platform is a Nordic collaboration project between Dance Info Finland, Dansens Hus Stockholm (Sweden), Dansehallerne (Denmark), Dansens Hus Olso (Norway), and Performing Arts Iceland.
The year´s Finnish performances included Elina Pirinen's Lover of the Pianist, Helsinki Dance Company's Youmakeme, Jefta Van Dinther, Minna Tikkanen and David Kiers' (SE/FI/NL) Grind, Liisa Pentti & Co's The Weight of my Heart, Maija Hirvanen's Our Social Democratic Bodies and Off/Balance's On the Threshold.
