Good Year for Finnish Design

It has been a good awards season for Finnish designers so far. This year two Finnish designs have been nominated for London Design Museum's Designs of the Year 2012 Award.
Ville Kokkonen's WHITE collection lighting for Artek and Kokoro & Moi's innovative packaging for Stockmann department store have been both nominated for Design of the Year 2012 Award in London. All of the nominations will exhibited at the Design Museum from 8 February to 15 July 2012; winners will be announces at an Awards Night held on 24 April 2012.
Tapio Anttila won at the end of 2011 the prestigious GOOD DESIGN Award for the fourth time with his Tip pendant light, which he had designed for Keraplast. In 2010 the Upside multi-purpose table was awarded and the Tuohi product series won the Green GOOD DESIGN Award, and in 2005 the Haiku chair received the award. The international award advances high-quality, visionary design and innovative product concepts.
The GOOD DESIGN Award is the world's oldest and most distinguished design competition conferred annually by The Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design and The European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies. Architects Eero Saarinen, Charles and Ray Eames, and Edgar Kaufmann, Jr, established the award in Chicago in 1950.
