Dublin Dance Festival´s opening evening, 14 May, kicks off with contemporary dance from Finland by Tero Saarinen Company at The Abbey Theatre. Stravinsky Evening features two Saarinen´s choreographies: Petrushka and HUNT.
This is the ninth time Ireland’s leading dance event brings together dancers and choreographers from across the world to share and enjoy contemporary dance for 13 consecutive days.
In 2001 originally premiered Pethruska is Saarinen´s version of Igor Stravinsky´s eternal triangle drama and Saarinen´s praised, heart-stopping solo, HUNT set to Rite of Spring premiered 2002 in Venice Biennial. Dublin is the few places to see HUNT before its last performance in Finland.
“A fascinating suspension between the familiar and the strange, the classic and the new.” The Guardian says of Tero Saarinen Company’s Stravinsky Evening.
