If You Could Collaborate: The Finns Are Here
Jesse Auersalo, Jesse Pietilä and Riitta Ikonen are taking part in If You Could Collaborate, a hit show bringing together exciting pairs to produce surprising collaborative pieces.
Three Finnish artists and designers are taking part in If You Could Collaborate, a hit show bringing together exciting pairs to produce surprising collaborative pieces. Designers Jesse Auersalo and Jesse Pietilä worked as an all Finnish team while artist-designer Riitta Ikonen collaborated with British artist Ian Wright.
If You Could Collaborate, staged at the A Foundation Gallery at Rochelle School, London, is the fourth annual If You Could exhibition. The project aims to provide a platform for the finest creatives from all over the world to question their conventional working methods and outcomes. The contributors have been challenged to produce something a little unexpected, by working with a partner of their choosing from any discipline, profession or background. There is no brief to answer, or format to honour - the only limit being the enterprise and imagination of the artists involved, and a liberal 12 month deadline.
Auersalo is a New York-based graphic designer known for his surrealistic and dark illustrations. For the project Auersalo joined forces with Helsinki-based interior architect and exhibition designer Pietilä, who added his skills to help create a graphically embellished space divider.
Royal College of Art graduate Ikonen is known for her humorous and thought-provoking work that focus on social and environmental issues. Ikonen’s and Wright’s 12 month project resulted in a quirky ’formalised autumn/winter collection on the theme of Peace and Quiet’, combining a variety of styles including photography and costume.
