Anssi Kasitonni at Moving Image Art Fair
The Distribution Centre for Finnish Media Art, AV-arkki, and artist Anssi Kasitonni have been chosen to take part in one of London's most significant art events, the Moving Image.
The Moving Image Art Fair takes place 11–14 October 2012 during London's Frieze Art Fair. Anssi Kasitonni is showing one of his most recent works titled Planet of Sexes at the fair. In Planet of Sexes an unexpected love awaits a lonely US Air Force pilot on the planet of female warriors, castration robots and lizard creatures. The action switches from the blackness of space to the surface of the desert planet and into fortresses under its surface with blinding force. Sweeping intergalactic vistas are interlaced with tight close-ups of the actors' faces.
Anssi Kasitonni (born 1978) is a unique, award-winning artist, musician, filmmaker and skateboarder from Sahalahti, Finland. He has worked in music, drawing and sculpture and he makes short films at his farm. The films deal with age-old questions related to morality, love, death, generation gaps, sexuality and, of course, submarines. Kasitonni won the Ars Fennica 2011 prize, the biggest Finnish prize for visual art.
