Succesful Finnish photograph and video artist Elina Brotherus (b. 1972) is taking part in Photographers' Gallery's exhibition called Home Truths: Photography, Motherhood and Identity. The exhibition opens tomorrow and aims to challenge typical stereotypes and understanding of motherhood through eight different artists.

Brotherus' Annunciation is a strong and thought-provoking series of works where she pictures herself after failed IVF treatments. Unlike the Annunciation of Mary, getting pregnant can be a long process when time after time negative pregnancy tests turn into a deep sorrow and loss.
Elina Brotherus lives and works in Finland and France. Her works has featured many exhibitions all over the world. In 2008 Brotherus awarded the State Art Prize for Photography and in 2012 she was granted the Pro Finlandia medal. Photographers' Gallery is the largest gallery in London dedicated to photography. Home Truths exhibition continues until 5 January 2014.
